 The Type 004 aircraft carrier is an upcoming class of supercarriers for the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army Navy. The yet-unnamed lead ship of the class is currently in construction at the Dalian Shipyard since 2024,9] and is the fourth aircraft carrier of the Chinese aircraft carrier programme and the third to be built indigenously by China.
Like the proceeding Type 003 carrier Fujian, the Type 004 carriers will be capable of catapult-assisted takeoff but arrested recovery (CATOBAR) operations via the same DC-supercapacitor electromagnetic catapult system jointly developed by the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. In December 2023, Jiangnan Shipyard unveiled plans for KUN-24AP, a 24,000 TEU nuclear-powered container ship designed to use Gen IV molten-salt reactors for propulsion.[16] The PLA Navy is interested in the same technology to power large surface warships as part of Chinas military-civil fusion strategy.[] Based on the specifications of the Type 004 and Chinas building plans, military analysts believe that China is planning to rival the capabilities of the USs Ford supercarrier, and match the firepower of the US carrier fleet in the Pacific, while also giving China the ability to project power beyond the Second Island Chain. CHINA NAVY SO GREAT..
   It has been proposed by some observers that the square sections could be made up of biological shields of a nuclear reactor, since it was expected to be a nuclear powered vessel, the Type 004. Nevertheless, naval engineering specialists have indicated that biological shields of reactors are normally a continuity part of the hull and are not stand alone components which would be visible as a distinct entity in satellite pictures. The biological shield is an essential protection mechanism around a navigation reactor in which it stores radiations and supports the reactor housing. These shields are normally constructed as part of the actual hull of the ship in early stages of construction of aircraft carriers and thus they are very unlikely to appear in form of separate parts; aircraft carriers will also have very odd shapes. Such a technical explanation implies that the secretive sections can be earmarked to other functions in the construction of a carrier such as aircraft handling systems, weapons stowages or highly sophisticated radar systems needed by the current supercarriers to operate effectively.   .The latest satellite images of Dalian shipyard in China reveal unknown construction modules that could hint the start of one of the most awaited aircraft carriers in history the Type 004 aircraft carrier project. These giant parts that were photographed in different phases of assembly during 2024 have elicited strong suspicions of what China is developing after its last-generation nuclear-powered supercarrier that might be able to fly circles round the current Ford-class vessels in America. The earliest sighting of the satellite images was approximately during the first week of June and what was discovered was an enclosed white square which was strategically located within the ship yard construction zone. That initial glimpse was then followed by a view of an exposed gray square section indicating a modular building strategy as common to big naval vessels.
