雌、雄螢火蟲是採取閃光訊號的方式互相辯識身份和打招呼，多數種類螢火蟲的雄蟲有翅，而雌蟲無翅，所以在夜空中一邊飛一邊發出求偶閃光訊號的大多是雄蟲。

Geranium" is from the Greek quot;geranos","crane", referring to the long, pointed seed pod that resembles a Crane's bill. Sticky Geranium grows from one to three feet tall with vivid purple flowers . The bracts and upper stem are often glandular (sticky), thus the scientific and common names.
It is common for somen Geranium leaves to turn red early in the summer; by fall, red leaves paint the forest floor.
