Re-masticating Hsu ChiCheng

When meeting materials hard to be understood
We should re-masticate them
With the teeth of thinking
Just as a cattle does

In fact, there always have something
That we are unable to understand at once
This moment re-masticating is very important

Re-masticating again and again
And it means a kind of tempering
To have materials of various sorts
To be digest
And then to be absorb

Thinking it over again and again
Pondering it over again and again
This is called re-masticating

Take it easy and not afraid of difficulties
With our thinking and carefulness
To do it perfectly and correctly
Just as —
Mastery comes from training
Jade needs carving
Good harvest needs hard work and sweat
Verses need to be refined time and again
So that they can stand time’s test

         反  芻 

如牛之先將草秣吞下

然後時時吐回嘴裏反芻

我們用思維的牙齒反芻

當材料一時無法融通消化 

確實，有些事有些時候

是無法一下就通達的

這時就有反芻的必要 

反芻，反芻呀反芻

反芻乃一種淬煉

讓林林總總的材料

得以精細

然後消化，吸收 

思考再思考，琢磨再琢磨

推敲再推敲，淬煉再淬煉

這是反芻的工夫 

沉住氣，不怕難，不嫌煩

用我們的思維加細心

不囫圇吞棗，未經消化便草率將就

務求精細、正確和完美

如百煉而後鐵方成鋼

如琢磨而後玉石方放光芒

如流血流汗辛苦耕耘方有好收穫

精練而成的詩字字句句擲地有聲

禁得起時間鐵面無私的檢驗
