Mountain Hsu ChiCheng

A mountain, a silent mountain
Stores warmth enough to melt the ice sea in the Antarctic
But appears determined and calm
Changing its warmth into soil, gone with wind
Moving into nothingness
Moving into ideal
A mountain sits wordless
As if a Buddha sitting in meditation
O, mountain is mountain

With the blue sky, while clouds and stars above its head
A mountain, a silent mountain
A green, mighty and imposing mountain
Always holds its fate in its own hands
Allowing seasons to flow away from its back
It always sings its own song alone
Neither wind, nor rain, nor snow, nor hailstones
Is able to destroy it
It hasn’t any lust and doesn’t care about coldness or warmth
A mountain always says so:
“That’s what I should be.”
Such is mountain

A mountain, a silent mountain
It isn’t legendary
But ordinary
A mountain means one, means whiteness
One means all, whiteness means colors
It needs not to be dressed by man
A mountain is always beautiful
--the beautiful from nature, the beautiful from primitiveness
Walking in a mountain
It will show you wildness and endlessness
No one can travel throughout and understand all mountain
A mountain means all, means universe
There are boundless expanse of surging waves in a mountain
There are lamps and candles of myriad households in a mountain
There is a boundless universe in a mountain

A mountain means all, means the universe
Trees and grass grow in it, birds and beasts live in it
Streams run out of it, minerals hide in it
A mountain, silent as a Buddha sitting in meditation
It doesn’t look joyful no matter who comes
It doesn’t look sad no matter who leaves
It never looks thin
No matter how many persons come
To mine it up
O, mountain, a mountain doing nothing
A rich and towering mountain

A mountain, a silent mountain
A green, mighty and imposing mountain
Stores warmth enough to melt the ice sea in the Antarctic
But looks determined and calm
With the blue sky, white clouds and stars above its head
It is lost all times
In thinking of the good, thinking of life
Changing its warmth into soul, gone with wind to the distance
Moving into nothingness
Moving into ideal
O, mountain, a silent mountain
A timeless mountain
Silent as if a Buddha sitting in meditation

山，沉默的山

蘊足以融化南極最大冰海的熱情

而顯堅毅與冷靜於外

化熱情為靈，隨風而去

去向遠方

播予虛無，播予理想

山無言

默坐，如禪中的佛

啊，山就是山

頂著藍天，頂著白雲，頂著星

山，沉默的山

山，青翠而雄壯的山

牢牢地把握住自我

任四季從背脊奔流而過

兀自唱著自己的歌，以山瀑

風雨雪雹搖不動山

利欲利欲不了山

冷暖冷暖不了山

山倔強地喃喃：

「我就是這麼樣子。」

這麼樣子就是山

山，沉默的山

不是傳奇

是平凡中的平凡

山是一，是白

而一是萬有，白是千彩

不須人工的修飾

山永遠美

——自然的美，原始的美

走入山

山展現出曠野，展現出無窮

沒有人能走遍山或了解山

山是萬有，山是宇宙

山中有千頃波濤

山中有萬家燈火

山中有大千世界

山是萬有，山是宇宙

草木生焉，鳥獸棲焉

泉水出焉，寶藏藏焉

山，默坐如禪中的佛

任誰來，任誰去，任誰採

誰來山也不多喜

誰去山也不加悲

誰採山也不見少

誰也採不去山

啊，山，無為的山

山，豐富而雄壯的山

山，沉默的山

山，青翠而雄壯的山

時時沉思

沉思善，沉思生命
