人類聯盟（The Human League）於１９７７年出道

原本走的是後龐克搖滾路線　後來轉向電子流行 新浪潮後

成為１９８０年代英國新浪潮（New Wave）風潮的國際紅星

原本人類聯盟是多人團體　但最後縮減成檯面上的一男二女：Phillip Oakey（他是自１９７７年的原始成員）

Joanne Catherall , Susan Ann Sulley（１９８０年加入）
不過背後尚有幾個地下團員

１９７９年　人類聯盟推出首張大碟　評價不錯　但不叫座

進入８０年代後　他們逐漸轉向New Wave中的新浪漫主義

不僅製造出精緻　富有舞曲節奏的電子合成音樂

包裝也改以華麗時尚與濃厚化妝(像早期的喬治男孩, 杜蘭杜蘭)
譬如男主唱Phillip就時常濃妝豔抹　並作中性打扮

第三主打〔Love Reaction（I Believe In Love）〕終於打入單曲榜＃３　成為他們第一首暢銷曲

大碟也登上英國冠軍　銷售超過百萬　並且為他們拿到英國音樂獎最佳新人（與最佳製作人）

不過真正讓人類聯盟成為大西洋兩岸焦點的則是１１月發行的第五首單曲〔Dont You Want Me〕

這首新浪潮樂風的電子舞曲於１９８１年１２月拿下五週冠軍　大賣１４０萬張

成為英國史上第２５暢銷的單曲

隔年於美國發行後　在春天也登上單曲榜冠軍　銷售也破百萬　成為１９８２年第六熱門的歌曲
（此外在舞曲榜是＃３　主流搖滾榜是＃４）

澳洲則是＃４　堪稱人類聯盟最成功的歌曲與代表作

１９９５年〔Dont You Want Me〕重新混音發行　再度拿到英國榜＃１６

可見此曲受歡迎的程度

雖然從８０年代初期至今樂風已更迭無數
不過〔Dont You Want Me〕仍舊歷久彌新

我一直到９０年代才接觸到這首英國新浪潮／新浪漫主義的經典
