范海倫（Van Halen）是１９７２年由荷蘭裔Van Halen兄弟與美國主唱成立於加州的搖滾團體
走的是硬式／重金屬／Arena搖滾風格
１９７８年推出首張專輯後
即改寫了美國硬式搖滾與搖滾吉他演奏的歷史
Eddie Van Halen革命性的吉他彈奏技巧成為業界眾所模仿的典範
（後來他還被麥可傑克森｛Michael Jackson｝邀請在冠軍曲中演奏吉他　讓麥可得到葛萊美最佳搖滾歌手）
主唱David Lee Roth的詮釋風格也為許多樂團參考的指標
范海倫在７０年代末期／８０年代初期成為美國最售歡迎的硬式／重金屬搖滾團體
不過直到１９８４年　范海倫才成為歌壇的超級巨星

這年他們推出<１９８４>大碟　不但登上美國亞軍　大賣１０００萬張
還被譽為范海倫最佳專輯以及８０年代最傑出的硬式搖滾經典
首支單曲為１月發行的／跳下>

此曲有名在它將重金屬與鍵盤與電子合成樂器做了相當完美的結合
>的由來蠻有趣的　聽說是大衛在看電視新聞報導有人想從大樓跳下自殺
於是便有了歌曲靈感
