此曲由珍娜與長期製作人James Harris III, Terry Lewis 跟Dana Stinson 合寫

圍繞卡莉賽門（Carly Simon）１９７２年冠軍曲［Youre So Vain／你如此虛榮］樣本創作，

因此賽門也名列作者，她並增加少數口語部分

內容談到了一個身份不明的人試圖向傑克森勒索錢財。

據傑克森說，她打電話給卡莉，請求允許使用她的歌曲［Youre So Vain］的樣本，但賽門想重新錄製她的歌聲。

西蒙想寫新歌詞，她同意了。

傑克森的製作人Jimmy Jam將他們已經在製作的曲目發給了卡莉，她走進了瑪莎葡萄園島的錄音室錄製了一些素材。

賽門開始說唱，最初認為傑克森和製作人不會使用它，
