因此專輯發行後公司不願宣傳

導致［Making a Good Thing Better］成為她走紅後英美排行榜名次最低的大碟（UK#60, US#34）

在美國鄉村榜拿到＃１３　終結她連續六張Top１０的紀錄

也結束她連續金唱片的佳績

（不過在某些市場表現不錯：日本＃３　是她連續第五張Top５　荷蘭則拿到紐頓強第四張冠軍　加拿大金唱片）

至於單曲更慘　作為首波主打的專輯同名曲只拿到美國榜＃８７　英國　澳洲沒入榜

第二主打［Sad Songs］表現如其歌名　悲慘的打入各大市場

沒多久MCA隨即為奧莉薇亞發行首張正式精選［Olivia Newton-John’s Greatest Hits］

專輯就石沉大海

在［Making a Good Thing Better］大碟中　

紐頓強翻唱了１９７６年發行安德魯洛伊韋伯（Andrew Lloyd Webber）與提姆萊斯（Tim Rice）創作的音樂劇專輯［Evita／艾薇塔］的歌曲［Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina／阿根廷，別為我哭泣］

當時舞台音樂劇尚未推出

［Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina］原唱是英國歌手Julie Covington  她的版本在１９７７年２月登上英倫榜冠軍

至今賣出一百萬張

由於音樂劇專輯的成功

１９７８年　安德魯洛伊韋伯與提姆萊斯將其搬上舞台上演　相當賣座

並獲得英美劇場大獎

１９８０年　奧莉薇亞已成功重振聲勢
