BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY  OF THE AUTHOR

     Born in Hualian, Taiwan in 1961, Chen Kehua traces his ancestors back to Wenshang, Shangtung, China. He is now an oculist and a poet, who has been awarded with many important literature prizes and has published more than thirty books of poetry; prose works, novels, film critiques,play scripts, and photographs. Among the hundreds of lyrics of pop songs he has written, "Taipei's Sky" is the most popular one. When studying in Hualian High School, he began to write poems. Later he was recognized by Ya Husan as a new talent of the Literature Page of the United Daily News and, thus, made his debut in the literary circles. He intends to constantly change his style of poetry, to overthrow the traditional sense of morality, and to elaborate on the deconstruction and construction of the poetic form.

    He hates politics, ideology, and lies. In recent years, he often turns to Taiwan society and political issues as file subjects of his poetry. He insists that a poet must also be an innocent-natured child; with a child's heart and eye, the poet contemplates this tolerable world, which, with all its desire,love, and lust, is considered his battlefield of success.

    陳克華。山東省汶上縣人。民國五十年出生於臺灣花蓮。眼科醫生。詩人.曾獲重要文學獎項，出版詩，散文、小說、影評、劇本和攝影集共卅餘，撰寫國語流行歌曲歌曲逾百首，其中膾炙人口者有『臺北的天空』等。從花蓮高中時期開始寫詩，獲瘂弦賞識以聯副新人月踏入文壇。詩風求變，顛覆道德，同時嘗試形式的破與立，痛恨政治、意識型態和謊言，近年更常以臺灣社會及政治題材入詩。堅信詩人必是赤子，以赤子心眼觀察堪忍世界，欲海愛染，自認是其勝場。

PUBLISHER'S FOREWORD

   China is a country with a history of over five thousand years, rich with ancient cultures and civilization. China is also a country of poetry. China's poetry is recognized for its great achievements in art. 9 sessions of International Poets' Pen Club have taken place in China. In addition, the WCP (World Congress of Poets) will be held in China. Chinese poetry will surely be linked more closely with world poetry. Therefore, it gives impetus to the development of Chinese and world poetry.

    To promote a better understanding of Chinese and world contemporary poetry,  and to increase world culture exchanges, "The World Contemporary Poetry Series" will be edited and published by the famous Milky Way Publishing House. The series will include poetry written by Chinese as well as world famous poets of today, and. will be printed bilingually (Chinese and English). In addition, one Anthology of World Poetry will also be published. These will be significant gifts to the International Poet's Pen Club, WCP and all the poets from home and abroad.

    This series will present all kinds of world poetry today. Needless to say, it will be a page in the history of world poetry. We appreciate all the helpers and staff involved in this great project. And, most importantly, we wish to thank all the poets for their great works.

       中國是有五千年燦爛歷史的文明古國，也是詩的泱泱大國，詩的藝術源遠流長，在世界詩的藝術殿堂襄有非凡的成果和宏偉業績。共九屆國際詩人筆會在中國召開，同時世界詩人大會一直準備在中國舉辦，無疑將使中國詩壇和世界詩壇更加緊密地聯繫在一起，從而促進中國現代詩藝街的發展和提高，同時，也讓中國現代詩藝術在世界詩壇產生更為深遠的影響。

    為讓世界詩壇與中國詩壇互相加深了解，香港銀河出版社現推出《中外現代詩名家集萃》中英對照系列叢書，陸續推出中外詩人的短詩選集，並將推出大型精莢的綜合選本，作為獻給國際詩人筆會和世界詩人大會以及中外詩人們的厚禮。

    叢書力求充分展示中外現代詩藝術體栽和表現手法的多樣化，盼能對中外詩的交流產生積極的影響。詩叢的編者和作者們都積極熱情，以對詩壇負責任的態度進行這項工作，這都必將獲得詩史應有的評價。
