Vitriol innundated Gen. Chen Tingchong, former commander-in-chief of army, when he claimed the other day that he is genuine Chinese, and that is the emblem of his pride.  He also believed that "Taiwanese" soldiers will acquit themselves as badly as "zero score" in resisting PLA if military conflict breaks out between the strait.  I think what he said is a face-saving remark by not mentioning the humiliating word "surrender".

Some "critics" immediately accused him of "treason".  Well, even the legislation has ruled out that during war, the connection with China Mainland is applicable to the "crime" as with foreign countries are, still I think the law is not constitutionally adequate.  Because both PRC and ROC are in a status of unfinished civil war, so at most people may point the finger at Gen. Chen and call him a taitor to ROC, but absolutely not a quisling that commits treason against "Taiwan".

But he is not a traitor to ROC, the Republic of CHINA, for at least he regards himself as Chinese, which is the fundamental base for peace across the strait.  On that base, Taiwan may have the only chance to safeguard its best interests on table. (But no Taidu and anti-China education any more)  Otherwise, the unjust island is doomed to self-destruction, and the only question is when will it take place.
