Probably you do not know much about Mr Hu.  Well, I dont blame you.  I know him most from his magazine "中華雜誌"，for my father-in-law used to have every edition of the monthly periodical, and I had almost read them all. ( My father-in-law and Mr Hu were good friends with each other.)  Unfortunately, those magazines have all gone throughout several times of house moving.  FYI, once Mr Hu engaged in a cause celebre with Mr Li Ao, but, if I remember correctly, Li lost the case.  That was unusual for Li; and I think partly because Mr Hu is a real polymath, even better than Li, not just a diletante or a politician that Li could easily beat at any field.

PS I remember I told you once that it was Mr Hu debunked another Hu, Hu Lanchen(胡蘭成，張愛玲前夫）of his being a quisling during Resistence-Against-Jap War.  At last, College of Chinese Culture was forced to discontinue hiring that Hu as a professor.
