梅兒&金（Mel & Kim）是１９８０年代後期曇花一現的姐妹流行雙人組

由姐姐Kim Appleby（1961-）與妹妹Melanie Appleby（1966-1990）組成

１９８６－８８年紅即一時, 但因妹妹感染肺炎驟世而解體。

梅兒&金父母為牙買加移民

１９８５年, 梅兒灌錄個人樣本帶, 由英國樂手／商人Alan Whitehead經理其事業。

接著姐姐金也加入, 成為雙人組, 灌錄一些樣本帶。

最後與Supreme 唱片公司簽約, 總裁Nick East 並邀請製作三人組Stock Aitken Waterman（SAW）掌舵。

原本唱片公司打算讓［System］成為梅兒&金的首支單曲, 但她們跟製作人不高興, 因為此曲對姐妹的個性來說太過柔和

結果B面歌曲［Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)／展現(在週末放肆)］便成A面主打, ［System］反成了B面歌曲。

［Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)］由Stock, Aitken & Waterman譜寫, 並製作成一首House／流行舞曲

受到當時剛從地下音樂嶄露頭角的芝加哥車庫浩室（Chicago garage house）樂風影響, 算是一種前衛嘗試

節拍輕快討好, 加上梅兒&金融合都會街頭與時尚的穿著（梅兒以前是模特兒）, １９８６年９月發行後,果然推出後受到歡迎,

［Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)］登上英國單曲榜＃３　銷售逾２５萬張, 拿到銀唱片（１９８６年終＃４３）

讓她們一砲而紅。

１９８７年也在國際反應良好：
