１９８１年 美國女子手鐲成軍於洛杉磯

由Susanna Hoffs, Vicki and Debbi Peterson姐妹組成  並發行首支單曲 與Faulty唱片簽約

後來加入Annette Zilinskas

原本叫‘The Bangs’　但因同名法律糾紛　改為‘Bangles’

並於１９８２年出版EP［Bangles］

不過Annette Zilinskas又離開　加入Michael Steele

１９８３年與哥倫比亞唱片簽約

１９８４年２月發行首張專輯［All Over The Place／散落各處］, 由David Khane製作, 走流行搖滾與新浪潮風格, 獲得不錯評價

雖然在商業並非大紅, 但銷售穩定。

首支主打［Hero Takes A Fall／英雄需要失敗］由Susanna Hoffs＋Vicki Peterson譜寫

被製作成一首流行搖滾, 由Susanna Hoffs主唱

節奏輕快, 和聲精彩, 頗獲好評

［Hero Takes A Fall］並沒打入美國單曲榜　只拿到英國非正式榜＃９６

不過這是手鐲在主流廠牌下首支單曲, 上過許多媒體宣傳, 讓她們開始受到大眾矚目, 對樂團意義重大。

因此後來精選輯皆會收錄此曲。
