１９５８年聖誕節出生於多倫多的阿蘭娜麥爾絲（Alannah Myles）是加拿大的冷豔搖滾女歌手

１６歲便開始表演

後來遇到Christopher Ward 幫助她組成自己的樂團

接著又跟製作人David Tyson相識　

１９８７年, 與華納音樂旗下的Atlantic唱片簽約

由David Tyson統籌個人專輯製作

１９８９年３月　阿蘭娜發行同名首張大碟［Alannah Myles］ 獲得優良評價

４月, 首支單曲〔Love Is／愛是〕發行

此曲由David Tyson, Christopher Ward譜寫

前者製作成一首帶有舞曲味的流行搖滾　節奏輕快　旋律討好

MV拍攝了加拿大版與國際版

〔Love Is〕登上加拿大單曲榜＃１６　讓阿蘭娜在歌壇受到矚目

６月在澳大利亞發行，但直到年底才入榜，隔年［Black Velvet］在美國大紅後, 讓〔Love Is〕在１９９０年４月升到澳洲榜＃１２　並拿到金唱片（35k）（1990年終#52）

１９９０年初　邁爾絲以［Black Velvet］在國際走紅

４月後, 〔Love Is〕以第二單曲在各地陸續發行

登上美國Billboard單曲榜＃３６　副榜──主流搖滾榜＃１９

英國榜＃６１　愛爾蘭＃２３　荷蘭＃２５　比利時＃３９　紐西蘭＃４４　德國＃４５

１９９０年Juno Awards上, 〔Love Is〕&［Black Velvet］共同提名年度單曲（後者得獎）

專輯［Alannah Myles］在世界各地熱賣四百萬張, 讓阿蘭娜的事業有好的開始　

只是邁爾絲的人氣短暫, 自第二張大碟後, 除加拿大外, 其它地區皆反應不佳

她的音樂事業也下滑了
