Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by every one who looked at her, but most of all by her grandmother. There was nothing that she would not have given to her granddaughter. Once she gave her a little cap of red velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything else. So she was always called Little Red Riding Hood.

從前從前有一個可愛的小女孩，大家都非常疼愛她，最疼她的，是她的奶奶。她的奶奶什麼都願意送給她的孫女。她送給小紅帽一個紅色天鵝絨的帽子，因為太適合她了，小紅帽再也不戴別的帽子了。這就是大家都叫這個小女孩小紅帽的原因。

One day her mother said to her, "Come! Little Red Riding Hood.” “Here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine. Take them to your grandmother. She is ill and weak, and they will do her good. Set out before it gets hot, and when you are going, walk nicely and quietly and do not run off the path, or you may fall and break the bottle, and then your grandmother will get nothing. And when you go into her room, don't forget to say”good-morning”, and don't peep into every corner before you do it."

有一天她的媽媽跟她說：「來！小紅帽。」「這裡有一個蛋糕和一瓶酒，把它們拿給奶奶。她又病又虛弱，吃了這些會讓她好一點。在天氣變熱之前出發吧，你要出門的時候，好好地安靜地走，不要在路上跑，不然會跌倒把瓶子摔破，奶奶就什麼東西也沒有了。進去她房間的時候，別忘記說「早安」，說之前不要東張西望。」

”I will take great care.” said Little Red Riding Hood.

「我會小心的。」小紅帽說。

Meanwhile, a wolf was waiting for Little Red Riding Hood in her granny’s house. “I brought some goodies and wild flowers for you, Granny!” Little Red Riding Hood knocked on the door. The wolf coughed and pretended to be sick.

這個時候，有一隻大野狼正在奶奶的房子裡等著小紅帽。「我帶來一些好吃的東西和野花來給你囉！」小紅帽敲敲門，大野狼咳嗽假裝生病。

And then the wolf swallowed Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother. Luckily, a farmer came. He broke into the house and saved them while the wolf snored.

然後大野狼把小紅帽和奶奶都吞進肚子裡去。很幸運地，一個農夫來了，在大野狼睡著的時候破門而入，救了他們。

They gave each other a big hug.

他們給彼此一個大大的擁抱。
