Legend has it that when Gandhi was studying law at the University of London, he had to endure a Caucasian professor named Peter who hated him. One day, when Professor Peter was eating lunch in the dining hall, Gandhi was sitting next to him. Gandhi looked at him and replied calmly, “Professor, you don’t have to worry, I will fly away.” Then he sat down at another table. Peter was so angry that his face turned red and he decided to retaliate. The next day, he asked Gandhi in front of the rest of the class: “Mr. Gandhi, if you were walking down the street and found a bag of wisdom and a bag of money ($), which bag would you take?” Gandhi replied without hesitation, “Of course, I would take the bag with the money in it!” Professor Peter said with a mocking sneer: “If I were you, I would take the bag of wisdom!” Gandhi responded with a shrug: “Everyone should take what he doesn’t have!” Professor Peter was left completely speechless. In a fit of rage, he wrote “idiot” on Gandhi’s test paper and handed it back to Gandhi. After Gandhi got his test paper, he sat back down at his desk and tried his best to keep calm as he thought very seriously about his next move. After a few minutes, Gandhi walked up to the professor and said in a dignified and polite tone: “Professor Peter, you signed my paper, but you didn’t grade me!” Job 36:5: God is mighty, He does not despise man, His wisdom is great. 甘地有趣的一面 |
