We will visit Zhongshan Elementary School Affiliated Kindergarten, Boston Kindergarten, Living Water Childcare Center and I-shou International Kindergarten. The focus of this study tour is to learn how these schools have successfully created a culture of active home-school partnership.
You would be invited to conduct a simple children activity at Boston Kindergarten. Some suggestions include telling a story, demonstrating a simple art technique or conducting a science experiment.
A special puppet-making workshop has also been arranged during the stay in Kaohsiung. You will learn how to make a special big-mouth puppet that you can use to inspire and motivate children in your classroom.
The study focus of the Taiwan study tour is on effective Home-School Partnership. The study tour begins from and ends at Taipei, Taiwan. Participants will benefit from guided visits to early-years centres, dialogue sessions with local educators and PD sessions. The study tour package may also include twin or triple-share accommodation and sightseeing. You will also learn how to make a special big-mouth puppet that you can use to inspire and motivate children in your classroom. It does not include air travel to and from Taipei.

Alyna has over 20 years of professional experience in the early childhood field. She has worked with children from 2 years – 12 years old in various learning settings. She is currently a teacher with an international school in Singapore.

School Visit: I-Shou International Kindergarten ~ Buddha Memorial Hall ~ Lunch (participant’s own) ~ Meinong, a famous Hakka Village in Kaohsiung County, Taiwan originally inhabited by the Rukai aborigines. The village is famous for hand-painted oil paper umbrellas.

Puppet Making Workshop ~ Design and make your own big-mouth puppet that you can use in your classroom.
13 Oct 12 (Sat): Kaohsiung – Taipei
Return to Taipei via high speed rail ~ Check into Taipei hotel ~ Free & Easy
14 Oct 12 (Sun): Half-day Wulai aboriginal village tour
Highlights: View the aboriginal tribesmen who once were the head hunters of Taiwan. Drive along scenic mountain road following aborigine and ride in unique push-car to the top of a deep ravine. Watch an aboriginal song and dance performance.
