有些歌，開始的時候沒有人要唱
連作曲人都沒想要錄它，後來卻大發特發，
《Stand By Me》就是這樣的一個例子。

這首歌原是 Ben E. King　為　The Drifters 所寫 ，
但是The Drifters 卻沒有興趣唱它，
就是King本人也沒有想到要錄它。
一直到Jerry Leiber 和 Mike Stoller　聽到了
King彈的鋼琴曲大為感動，
為它寫管弦配樂以及歌詞，
由king本人演唱，
起初單曲發行沒有得到太多的注意，
１９６１年收在king的唱片
《Dont Play That Song》裡頭，
開始竄紅，在排行榜上升到第四名，
根據BMI在１９９９年的統計，
這首歌的演唱次數
是二十世紀美國流行歌曲裡的第四名。
