Guangxi, one of the coastal provinces of China, has been long troubled by lacking efficient transpotation to ship its inland products and goods to the harbors at south. Now the countdown of a super project is underway: Pinglu Canal, and it will be coming soon. Please see the diagrammatic sketch below.

FYI, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen initiated the idea to build a South Harbor at Guangzhou, including Qinzhou in his "The International Development of China" to help explore the greater southwest China, but maybe he did not think of building a canal to achieve his goal.
