It is a joy to hear humming from next office, while my computer is playing CD # 9 from Chinese Symphonic Century by Lee Tai-Hsiang. When the SOGO saleswoman put this box of 12 CDs and an accompanying book in my hand, I never imagined it would turn out to be a treasure. I just want to bring few Taiwanese music CDs back home. Everyone in my office appreciates this music. My boss will often hum along to the music without asking me to lower the volume (we are right next door to each other), and coworkers entering my office will loosen their footsteps to the melody of the music. These experiences make me so grateful for Mr. Lee and his Team. The book has been also been read or skimmed by a few of my colleagues. I am the one who has enjoyed the fruit of Mr. Lee’s hard work. I leaned so much about the place where I grow up – the one I knew so little about; familiar also foreign to me. I am so indebted to Mr. Lee, who has this vision to preserve and refine our past for the next generation. I am also so proud to show my background with all of people I work with day and night. Thank you Lee Tai-Hsiang! I hear your beautiful melodies in my dreams, and the knowledge of history deepens the love I have for this beautiful island, helping me to believe there is a beautiful tomorrow for our island. |
