BEAR POLICY: All items must be removed from your car which may attract a bear, including food and food related items (unopened bottles, cups, paper plates), scented items (soap, sunscreen, toiletries) as well as trash. Please put these in your hotel room, cottage, bear proof storage locker or trash can. Please understand that your car may be towed and cited up to $5000 if any of these items are left unattended in the car. Cooking is not allowed in or around any of the accommodations with the exception of housekeeping camp; check with the Front Desk for appropriate picnic locatons. Proper food storage is requied at all times by law. If you are staying in the Curry Village tent cabins or Housekeeping Camp units, it is recommended that you pack your toiletries in a separate small bag and keep it stored in your bear proof storage locker. TRAVEL: Yosemite National Park has three gateways that are open in the winter: Highway 120 to the North, Highway 41 to the South, and Highway 140 to the West. (Note that Highway 120 to the East, from Crane Flat over Tioga Pass to Lee Vining is closed in winter) Roads sometimes close temporarily for snow and debris removal, but are usually re-opened quickly. It is required that you carry tire chains in your vehicle (including rental and 4-wheel drive) between October and April, as NPS or Department of Transportation may require you to have them at any time.
