There are protective mothers, and then there’s Francine Fitzgerald. Her grown-up son and his girlfriend travelled to Peru for a four-month remote jungle vacation, warning they could be out of contact for long periods of time. But after a month without any Facebook posts (!) Mom got spooked and guilt-tripped Peru (yes, the country) into a nationwide search for the couple. The Peruvians contacted witnesses in the remote region, who said the pair were fine. But Francine wasn’t satisfied. “Until we have PROOF OF LIFE, we cannot celebrate these rumors,” she wrote on Facebook. Finally, Peru sent a hydroplane out to the couple and took video to prove their safety. Gee, Mom. Stop embarrassing me. [Source]
