1.      英文主要句型為SV為，無論主詞或受詞皆為名詞。動詞是句子靈魂，由動詞判斷時態及主被動形式。

2.      中文主要句型為TC (Topic/Comment；話題/評論)，詞性多元。故英翻中可說是化簡為繁，善用詞類轉換，將英文名詞、介係詞…等轉換為中文的動詞，因中文動詞使用較為頻繁。

3.      The sight and sound of our jet plane filled me with special longing.

因為英文句子中只能存在一個真動詞，其餘皆須以不定詞、動名詞或”同源名詞”代替動詞的意思，以上例句”sight”及”sound”就是動詞的同源名詞，故翻譯可翻為”看見我們的噴射機，聽見隆隆的飛機聲，我的心裡充滿了嚮往。”比起直翻”我們噴射機的樣子及聲音讓我感到非常嚮往”好多了。

4.      They went towards the street, past shops, across a big square, and then into a tall building. 他們往街上走，經過商店，穿過大廣場，進入一棟高樓大廈。

許多介係詞片語都可以取代動詞，在此中翻英的時候可多利用，以介係詞取代不定詞或動名詞。

5.      The exhibition's most fascinating displays highlight the dissemination of Newtonian ideas beyond the narrow world of science.

6.      英文句子一定會有主詞，而中文卻不一定。

We have 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. 一周有七天，一天有24小時。

泛指一般人時，中文會善用零位主詞句，英文則會使用one or we當主詞。
