Scarlet sails 2019.
Grandiose musical and light-pyrotechnic show dedicated to graduates of Russian schools that will be held in St. Petersburg on the night of 23−24 June.
Scarlet Sails — The Russian holiday of school graduates, celebrated in St. Petersburg every year, as a rule, on the Saturday closest to the lightest white night (approximately June 18−25). In 2019, the holiday will be held on the night of 23 to 24 June. The first holiday was held on June 27, 1968.
The solemnity and general mood of the "Scarlet Sails" underscore the hopes that the city places today on a new generation, on talented and promising young people, on which the future of St. Petersburg and the whole country depends. .
From the Scarlet Sails Show to carillon music and the Imperial Gardens of Russia Festival, there will be no shortage of amazing events in St. Petersburg this weekend! Don’t miss out on the fun!
This Saturday, June 23, St. Petersburg will host one of the summer’s most exciting events, the Scarlet Sails, a romantic festival, created to congratulate school graduates on the beginning of their adult life journey. First started in June 1968, the concept of the festival is based on the fairy tale by Alexander Green, Scarlet Sails. The celebration starts with a concert on Palace Square, followed by a spectacular show on the Neva River.
Another highlight of the White Nights is that this is the best time to take a Canal cruise around the city. St Petersburg is known as the “Venice of the North”, because of its network of canals and rivers. During the winter, these are frozen and impassable. In the warmer months, you can cruise around the city in the evening; these trips often include a dinner, dancing or a folk music recital. You will also travel under some of the drawbridges that allow ships to access the Baltic Sea. This is a fabulous and romantic way to see the city.
