經歷了擁川群眾侵入國會山莊、國會議員狼狽逃難、人員傷亡，美國參議院終於在清晨將近四時，確認下屆總統及副總統當選人。
不管是支持哪一方，最後當牧師出來，帶領大家一起祈禱時，現場終歸一片安靜。但是不久之前的騷動，顯然讓駐院牧師臨時更改了禱文。您可以在許多媒體或社群網站上找到錄影。

Let us pray.
Lord of our lives, and sovereign of our beloved nation, we deplore the desecration of the United States Capitol building, the shedding of innocent blood, the loss of life, and the quagmire of dysfunction that threatened our democracy.

These tragedies have reminded us that words matter, and that the power of life and death is in the tongue. We have been warned that eternal vigilance continues to be freedom’s price.
