| 12/11/2025 spouse PC last month updated from 23H2(not 22H2) to 25H2, mine till today still 23H2(not 22H2) updating. due to many data files auto disappeared so decide to find out why 25H2 delay. Found windows update showed [Lenovo driver update (25.9.0.49)] available download so i did, then click [check for updates] popped up [Update for Windows Security platform - KB5007651 (Version 10.0.29429.1000)] and
[Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.443.31.0) - Current Channel (Broad)] i did 2 more installed then restart my PC. after turned on and windows log-in the screen popped up as : windows sign-in logonUI.exe system error 0xc0000005, unexpected parameters, unknown Hard Error. so Google searched [which updated caused windows sytem error 0xc0000005 ?] Windows error 0xc0000005 (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) isnt caused by one specific update, but rather by underlying issues exacerbated during updates, often related to memory (RAM) problems, corrupt system files, outdated/bad drivers (especially graphics or disk), malware, or issues with specific software/settings like Data Execution Prevention (DEP). Its a general "illegal memory access" error that can pop up during updates (like 22H2/23H2) or when running apps, pointing to conflicts or hardware faults rather than a singular bad update file.... searched [sign-in logonUI.exe system error 0xc0000005] The logonUI.exe 0xc0000005 error means the Windows sign-in process (LogonUI.exe) had an Access Violation, often due to bad drivers, corrupted system files, malware, or faulty RAM/hard drive, stopping you from logging in, and requires booting into Safe Mode (using Shift+Restart) to run tools like SFC, DISM, Check Disk, update drivers, or check RAM to resolve it. ... searched [i can windows sign-in but screen showed 0x0000005 unknown hard errot after lenovo driver (25.9.0.49)updated] The 0x0000005 or 0xc0000005 error is an "access violation" that often occurs due to corrupted system files, faulty RAM, or, as in your case, problematic device drivers. Since the issue started after a Lenovo driver update, the most likely solution is to roll back or uninstall that specific driver. ... searched [should i uninstall lenovo driver (25.9.0.49) just updated to solve windows sytem error 0xc0000005?]Do not immediately uninstall the driver. The error code 0xc0000005 is a generic access violation error that indicates a program is trying to access unallocated or protected memory. While it can be caused by outdated or corrupted drivers, it is not definitively linked to that specific Lenovo driver version. The issue could also be due to other factors like corrupted system files, malware, or even faulty hardware (RAM or hard drive). Instead of uninstalling, try the following troubleshooting steps in order. Recommended Troubleshooting Steps.... searched [what lenovo driver update (25.9.0.49) for ?] is a "Drivers (Other Hardware)" classification update for the Lenovo Universal Device Client system. The actual installer file name depends on the product model and the specific update channel used (e.g., Lenovo System Update, Lenovo Vantage, or manual download from the support site). However, the installed driver file associated with this version number is typically an INF file named: udcdriver.inf When downloaded as an executable from the Lenovo support site, the file name will often follow a naming convention that includes the product type and a short code (e.g., jscn25ww.exe for a BIOS update or a generic name like Lenovo System Update.exe for the update tool itself). During the installation process, the files are typically extracted to a temporary folder, often C:\windows\tempinst, before installation. C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository PS finally got important informations so thru file explorer found out the installed file location at [ C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\udcdriver.inf_amd64_3fe7158fcaf75a30 ], can see udcdriver.inf, after cd data, open and read [Readme.txt] which shows : UNINSTALL [Uninstall through Windows Device Manager] 1. The disabled device is a Lenovo-specific virtual driver related to their utility software, not a critical component of the core Windows update mechanism. About the "Universal Device Client Device" Function: This is a virtual driver specific to Lenovo devices that belongs to the Lenovo Device Intelligence (UDC) utility, which sends usage and health telemetry to Lenovo cloud services. It is not essential for the core Windows OS to function. Impact of Disabling: Disabling this device will primarily affect the functionality of the Lenovo UDC software (such as data collection and potentially some notification pop-ups or specific features of the Lenovo Vantage app). It does not impact essential system drivers like graphics or network adapters, which are critical for the update process. Driver Update Error (25.9.0.49): The driver version 25.9.0.49 likely had an issue that caused an error (e.g., Code 31) in Device Manager, which is a known issue for some users. Temporarily disabling it or rolling back the driver is a valid workaround for that specific error. Windows 11 25H2 Update Status The ability to receive the 25H2 feature update is generally determined by: System Requirements: Ensuring your hardware meets the minimum requirements for Windows 11. Windows Update Health: The overall health of your Windows Update components. Essential Drivers: Having correct and up-to-date critical drivers (graphics, network, etc.) available through Windows Update or Lenovos official channels like Lenovo Vantage or the Lenovo support website. Next Steps To ensure your system is ready for the 25H2 update, you should: Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and run the Windows Update troubleshooter. Use Lenovos tools: Use the Lenovo Vantage application to check for all available firmware and driver updates directly from Lenovo. Check for Windows Updates manually: Go to Settings > Windows Update and select "Check for updates". Manually Update (if needed): If the update still fails, you can use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from the Microsoft website to perform an in-place upgrade. You can leave the "Universal Device Client Device" disabled for now as it is not related to the core Windows feature update process. ps 12/15/2025 i didnt unistall the Lenovo driver because spouse told me his notebook updated every day and got many errors, days later they seemed auto fixed. however he didnt remember whether the same (or similar) error happened to his pc (same company made). Im John Dev a Windows user like you and Ill be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, Im going to do my best to help you. Theres no need to worry because you only use the Update troubleshooter if you cant download or install windows updates. Note: It is always recommended to download and install drivers from the manufacturers Support page. If youre not experiencing any hardware issues, theres no need to install these driver updates. If the driver updates appear again, please try using the "Show or Hide Updates" troubleshooter to hide the driver updates. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try hiding the driver updates that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps. http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F2...
