Basketball was my favorite sport when I was young. After I came to US, I watched NBA all the time. But I did not pay much attention to it after Mike Jordan retired. Now Jeremy Lin bought back my passion of NBA again. I also pay attention to his news in the Taiwanese newspaper. I like to point out some ridiculous report from them: Jeremy Lin is Taiwanese: No, his parents were from Taiwan, but he was born in US and got educated here. The culture and the education system of two countries are quite different. You can say he is the decent of Taiwanese. My daughter will agree with my point. Jeremy Lin learned basketball from his grandmom: This is outrageous. His grandmom took care of him before he was three years old. And how can a three year old boy learned basketball?
Jeremy Lin is not in the same scale as Kobe Bryant and Mike Jordan when these two stars reach their top capacity. Lin will be in trouble if any team double team him. He still has too many turn overs. He is still lack of left side offense. Until he improves the above skills then he will be another Steve Nash of Suns and Tony Parker of Spurs. I doubt he will be another Kobe or Mike. Now US media join the bandwagen of Linsanity because he was from a bench warmer to the star point guard of Knicks. US people like these cinderella stories. After I read this blog of his teammate in Harvard, I adjust my evaluation of Lin to be better then Tony Parker and Steve Nash, but still not as good as Kobe and Michael. |
