１９７８年時　３２歲的美國歌壇女王琳達．朗絲黛（Linda Ronstadt）已成為

美國最知名的搖滾女歌手

同時也是搖滾樂壇收入高女性（那年她收入１２００萬美元）

不但專輯暢銷　亦是首位能在體育場與體育場演唱會門票售罄女藝人

〔US〕週刊稱她與史蒂芙妮克絲　卡莉賽門與瓊妮米雪兒為當時的‘搖滾天后’

滾石雜誌稱為她‘搖滾維納斯’

這年９月　琳達發行〔Living in the U.S.A〕大碟

仍由彼得艾雪（Peter Asher）製作

登上排行榜后座　成為她第三張冠軍大碟

認證雙白金（至今在美國實銷３百萬張）

〔Living in the U.S.A〕是琳達連續第六張白金唱片

（１９７６年美國唱片協會設立白金唱片　琳達是首位拿到連續五張白金的女藝人）

朗絲黛的人氣可見之於當時身材苗條的她穿著溜冰鞋拍攝〔Living in the U.S.A〕的專輯封面

結果導致美國溜冰鞋銷售戲劇性的上升

〔Back in the U.S.A／回到美國〕為大碟首支主打

這是１９５９年黑人傳奇歌手恰克貝瑞（Chuck Berry）譜寫兼演唱的搖滾歌曲

琳達版是首節奏輕快的流行搖滾　

配上她中氣十足的豐厚嗓音  演繹出有別原版的一番風味

〔Back in the U.S.A〕登上美國單曲榜＃１６　這是眾多翻唱版本中成績最佳的一首
