也是著名Latin Jazz-Fusion樂團Azteca墨西哥裔團長Pete Escovedo的女兒
在踏入演藝圈前就已跟著父親四處巡迴
Sheila E.本身也是個相當傑出的樂手　擅長打鼓與拉丁打擊樂器

１９７８年遇到未來的黑人巨星王子（Prince）

後來加入他的樂團

１９８４年　席拉在王子冠軍曲〔Let’s Go Crazy／讓我們發瘋吧！〕的B-Side〔Erotic City／色情之城〕獻聲
王子並幫她爭取到一紙華納合約
１９８４年６月推出首張專輯〔The Glamorous Life／華麗生活〕

同名單曲登上美國流行榜＃７　專輯在美國拿到金唱片
讓席拉一炮而紅

１９８５年８月　２７歲半的席拉發行在華納唱片旗下的第二張專輯［Romance 1600］ 由她跟製作　王子也參與幕後合音與樂器演奏

首支單曲［Sister Fate］反應不佳

１９８５年１１月　推出第二主打［A Love Bizarre／古怪的愛］

這是專輯中席拉唯一與王子合寫共製的歌曲

兩人將其製作成一首Funk／R&B 節拍輕快

並可以明顯聽出王子的合音

［A Love Bizarre］登上美國單曲榜＃１１　

副榜方面：黑人榜亞軍（這也是席拉在此榜最佳成績）

舞曲播放榜冠軍

其它地區：荷蘭＃９　奧地利＃１４　瑞士＃１６

 席拉伊在在當年秋天演出的音樂喜劇電影［Krush Groove］也表演此曲

MV則是她與樂團表演的場景　夾雜一些電影片段

由於單曲的成功　［Romance 1600］最後在美國銷售突破５０萬張　成為席拉第二張金唱片
