１９８８年底 好萊塢的２０世紀福斯公司推出由哈里遜福特 雪歌妮薇佛 梅蘭妮葛里芬主演的職場愛情喜劇經典〔Working Girl／上班女郎〕
賣座鼎盛 影評亦佳 拿下四座金球獎 六項奧斯卡提名（一項獲獎）
電影配樂由奧斯卡得主Rob Mounsey譜寫
並邀請４３歲的美國創作才女卡莉．賽門（Carly Simon）擔任原聲帶一半共五首歌曲的創作演唱
〔Working Girl〕的原聲帶專輯在當年８月便提前發行
首支單曲是卡莉創作演唱的〔Let The River Run〕
賽門提到這是她讀完電影劇本後得到靈感而寫
另外她也想創作一首對紐約的讚美詩 但搭配當代的叢林節拍
成果便是〔Let The River Run〕
卡莉寬厚的沙啞嗓音與合唱團交織出這首熱鬧的流行歌曲
〔Let The River Run〕登上美國單曲榜＃４９ 成人抒情榜＃１１ 英國＃７９ 澳洲＃９１
此曲隔年拿下奧斯卡／金球獎／葛萊美原創電影歌曲
成為史上首位獨力創作贏得三大獎項的歌曲（後來只有１９９３年Bruce Springsteen〔Streets of Phildelphia〕有此成就 其它贏得三大獎歌曲多半是共同創作）
雖然商業成績並不出色
但〔Let The River Run〕卻是公認的電影歌曲經典 也是卡莉事業的代表作之一
