１９８６年１０月, ３５歲半的美國鄉村樂紅星克麗絲托蓋兒（Crystal Waters）發行首張聖誕大碟［A Crystal Christmas／水晶聖誕］（Warner Bros.）

由Jim Ed Norman製作,樂評價中等。

大碟［A Crystal Christmas］打入Billboard副榜──鄉村專輯榜＃６９

１９８６年推出的［Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas／讓自己過個美好聖誕］為首支主打。

１９８７年,  蓋兒第二主打推出第二宣傳主打［O Holy Night／聖善夜］。

這是著名的法語聖誕頌歌［Minuit, chrétiens／午夜,聖徒］

１８４３年, 酒商／詩人Placide Cappeau (1808–1877) 應故鄉羅克莫爾小鎮神父要求, 創作這首聖詩慶祝當地教堂重新裝修

歌詞描述耶穌降臨於世的情景

同年底法國作曲家／樂評Adolphe Adam（1803 – 1856）為其譜曲

１８４７年, ［Minuit, chrétiens／午夜,聖徒］在羅克莫爾由歌劇歌手Emily Laurey首度公演

１８５５年, 美國一位論派（Unitarian）牧師John Sullivan Dwight將此師翻成英語

此後傳播更廣,

２０世紀被許多歌手灌錄成唱片。

克麗絲托版被改編成一首鄉村流行的聖誕抒情曲,

在溫馨的樂聲與中慢板的節奏間, 蓋兒與福音合聲逐漸將歌曲帶上高潮, 頗具特色。

此版並沒入Billboard鄉村歌曲榜。
