１９７０年年代後期　美國鄉村樂天后桃莉芭頓（Dolly Parton）逐漸向主流市場靠攏

雖然在７０年末／８０年代前期達到事業巔峰　甚至成為電影票房明星

但至１９８０年代中期時

由於鄉村基本歌迷不滿其曲風過度流行

唱片銷售逐漸下滑

１９８７年　桃莉離開合作長達近２０年的RCA唱片　跳槽到哥倫比亞公司

３月先與琳達朗絲黛（Linda Ronstadt） 艾蜜莉哈理斯（Emmylous Harris）完成十年前約定的夢想

推出華納（艾蜜莉．哈理斯的唱片公司）發行的三人合唱大碟〔Trio〕　大為成功　登上鄉村榜冠軍  拿到白金唱片　並有兩首單曲封后

但１１月推出在哥倫比亞旗下的首張專輯〔Rainbow〕　繼續走偏向主流曲風

卻評價低　銷售更差　只拿到鄉村榜＃１８

是１９７３年後事業最低名次

且沒有任何單曲打入鄉村榜Top４０　創下事業最低點

讓芭頓重新思考音樂事業走向

１９８９年春天　４３歲的桃莉發行〔White Limozeen／白色長型汽車〕（Columbia出版）　由Ricky Skaggs製作

重新回到鄉村樂根源

這次樂評優秀　一洗上張大碟失敗之恥　商業也成功

首支主打〔Why’d You Come in Here Lookin’ Like That／為何你那樣走進來？〕成為芭頓第１８首Billboard（副榜）鄉村榜冠軍（1989年終#43）　成為她三年半以來首支稱霸的個人歌曲  成功東山再起

１９８９年７月, 芭頓乘勝追擊, 推出第二首單曲［Yellow Roses／黃玫瑰］

由桃莉獨力譜寫　Ricky Skaggs製作（桃莉為執行製作）成一首鄉村抒情曲　柔美感性

［Yellow Roses］成為芭頓第１９首Billboard鄉村榜冠軍（1989年終#34）

繼續刷新她個人保持的美國最多Billboard鄉村榜冠軍曲女藝人紀錄

另也拿到加拿大鄉村榜冠軍（1989年終#17）

〔White Limozeen〕升到Billboard副榜──鄉村專輯榜季軍　並停留１００星期在連序幾首強勢單曲的支撐下

成為芭頓１９８１年後第一張拿到金唱片的個人錄音室專輯

這年她主演的電影〔Steel Magnolias／鋼木蘭〕叫好叫座

讓桃莉無論是影壇歌壇皆成功東山再起
