Dear Friend,

The amount of money spent in politics is not only outrageous, it's corrupting our system. Since 2000, over $1 billion dollars has been raised by California politicians -- giving access to special interests while shutting out the rest of us.

But in less than three weeks, voters across California will have a chance to change the way we finance election campaigns for good.

Proposition 15 will get politicians out of the money game, but we need your help to make sure it passes.

Click here to sign up to call voters, and we'll send you all the information and materials you need.

The lobbyist trade group, IGA, is trying hard to defeat Proposition 15. They know Prop 15 will endanger their grip on Sacramento politics when it passes.

But you know that politicians should be accountable to the voters, not big money donors. That's why we're asking you to take a small portion of your day and phone bank for Fair Elections.

A few years ago, Washington State's gubernatorial race was decided by only 134 votes. So your help could literally make the difference between winning and losing.

We're co-hosting a fundraiser screening of Casino Jack on Thursday night and I hope you'll be able to make it! With the Prop 15 campaign only a few weeks away, every dollar we raise helps us reach more voters throughout the state and ensure that our elected officials stay focused on the job we elected them to do.

Casino Jack is a new documentary on the life of Jack Abramoff and his Washington scandals, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney. The screening will be immediately followed by a panel discussion with campaign finance reform experts about what we can do to change politics-as-usual and break the cycle of corruption, starting with passing the Fair Elections Now Act and Proposition 15.

Panel speakers will include Kathay Feng, executive director of California Common Cause; Jessica Levinson of the Center for Governmental Studies; and Trent Lang, chair of the Yes on Proposition 15 campaign.

What: Film screening of "Casino Jack and the United States of Money", followed by a panel discussion
When: Thursday, May 20 at 7:15pm
Where: Landmark Theatre, 10850 West Pico Blvd., West Los Angeles, CA 90064

Tickets are $20 and must be purchased in advance at www.yesonprop15.org/jack.

We hope you will join us for this exciting Los Angeles film screening event and opportunity for an important campaign finance reform discussion.

For more information, please contact Anjuli Kronheim at 213-252-4552.

Sincerely,

Kathay Feng
and the rest of the team at California Common Cause
