Topdon North America has announced its efforts to improve vehicle security by supporting the National Automotive Service Task Force’s (NASTF) Secure Data Release Model (SDRM).

Designed to reduce vehicle theft and protect security-capable diagnostic tools from misuse, technicians who perform security-related functions can now register their Vehicle Security Professional (VSP) ID on TOPDON’s UltraDiag and T-Ninja Pro.

In response to the increasing threat of high-tech vehicle theft—where criminals exploit diagnostic and programming tools to bypass immobilizer systems and create unauthorized keys—NASTF developed the SDRM to ensure that only authorized technicians can perform sensitive vehicle security operations . As part of this effort, TOPDON has updated its software to allow technicians to register their Vehicle Security Professional (VSP) ID directly on the UltraDiag and T-Ninja Pro diagnostic tools . This feature will also be available soon on the Topdon ONE Plus and TopScan Pro platforms.

The NASTF VSP ID is intended for technicians performing security-related functions, such as adding keys, conducting all-keys-lost procedures, and immobilizer-related operations. NASTF requires VSPs to provide proof of a state business license and submit specific insurance documentation . This software update is provided at no additional cost, though there is an annual NASTF fee for VSP credential holders.
