Feather I … sand bath eagle

因為用英文寫較有味道，所以建議童鞋看英文版

Birds sometimes play in the sand to clean their feather. Biologists call it “sand bath”.  I often found birds playing

in the sand bunkers of golf courses.  One day, my mom

hit her third shot from a bunker in a par 4.  Her ball

landed on the green and went directly into the hole.  

She got a birdie for that hole.  Since it was an

extraordinarily unusual birdie, mom even named it as

“Sand Bath Birdie”.  Since then, whenever we

watched golf games on TV, if she saw a pro shot a

birdie from a bunker to the hole, she would say to me

“he/she caught a Sand Bath Birdie just like I did”.  

When I told her I caught an eagle today with 3 strokes

in a par 5.  On the second shot, my ball landed in the

sand bunker and somehow it bumped onto the green.

 “Oh! You got a SAND BATH EAGLE.”  she replied.

浴砂之鷹

小鳥為了清理羽毛有時候會在砂堆裡嬉戲，生物學家把這種行為稱為「砂浴(dust/sand bath)」，我偶而會看到小鳥在高爾夫球場的砂坑中砂浴。有一天(大約30年前)，我母親在新豐球場一個四桿洞的第三桿，她從砂坑中把球打上菓嶺，並且小白球直接滾進洞裡，這一洞她抓到了一隻小鳥。由於這隻小鳥是非常的不平凡，我母親甚至替它取個名稱叫「浴砂之鳥(sand bath birdie)」。從此之後，有時候我們一起看電視轉播高爾夫球賽，每當她看到有職業選手打出從砂坑直接進洞的小鳥，母親就會轉過頭來對我說：「他跟我一樣，抓到一隻浴砂之鳥(sand bath birdie)」。今天當我告訴母親，我在一個五桿洞射下一隻老鷹，那一洞的第二桿小白球掉進砂坑又彈上菓嶺，她竟然說：「你抓到的是一隻浴砂之鷹(sand bath eagle)」。(2008.11.18)

Feather II … 巧合(sand bath birdie)

前幾天才剛提起sand bath birdie這檔事，昨天(11/22)就發生了。

昨天與一見(76桿)、阿利、力瑋去再興球場。第17洞，標準桿5桿，球場標示白梯460碼。第一桿大著球道正中，比力瑋稍遠一點，真難得！此洞菓嶺前方有砂坑護衛，依經驗第二桿應該上不了菓嶺，但是若再來個大著那就難說了(肖想……也許可能有機會上菓嶺吧！說不定來個連兩場老鷹……)，結果當然是球沒上菓嶺，小白球進入砂坑。第三桿砂坑打上菓嶺離洞僅5呎，把握機會推桿進洞。真是巧合，不久前才提到的sand bath birdie，馬上就來報到了。一見在這一洞是砂坑救帕成功，所以不能算sand bath birdie。阿利、力瑋這一洞的第四桿都比我後推(意思就是球位比我的還更靠近洞)，只可惜今天本組沒有出現一洞三鳥。

Feather III … 火雞

今天(11/23)星期日是東華散兵隊例行球敘的日子，前六洞帕與勃起輪流出現。沒想到第7洞開始手風極順，連三鳥，第一次打出火雞。以前打保齡球的時候，打火雞是家常便飯，然而打高爾夫球時卻是每次連抓兩隻小鳥後(其實連二的次數就已經很少了)，第三洞就破功。也許是最近我跟這些長羽毛的有緣，今天竟然發生夢寐以求的連三鳥。前九洞36桿，後九洞41桿，總桿77，本月第三次拿拐杖，果然秋高氣爽是創造佳績的好季節。
