After participating our team’s meeting and watching the Video of the the other team’s performance, I have to say it’s more difficult than I originally thought. Running this meeting productively required not only English meeting skills, but also a strong business sense and a sensible reaction. Undoubtedly, it’s a rewarding experience. By and large, I would like to talk about several issues concerning the follows: first, the agenda; second, the chair; third, the participants; and finally, my own remarks. In the first place, the agenda was effective. For instance, in the location section, it was divided into three parts, including transportation, financial support, and work force. Due to the organized agenda, the participants discussed issue by issue and evaluated each item instead of being too general in their statements. Next, let’s take a look at the chair. The chair kept the group on the agenda. However, I do wish she could raise her volume and be more relaxed. I found the stiff atmosphere might be partly on account of the nervous chair. In addition, before asking for votes, she could summarize what people said as to reach the mutual understanding. Now, I’d like to talk about the participants. Most of the participants were well-prepared. They stuck to facts and figures instead of opinions. To illustrate their viewpoints, they brought along some interesting statistics and charts. By doing so, it left far less room for argument. But, most of the time, the speakers didn’t talk loud enough. It reduced the impact of verbal information. What’s more, the participants could work on the verbal fluency so as to increase the level of persuasion. Last not the least, I would like to make my own remark. During this meeting, one mentioned the gap between the product benefits and customer demands. I am 100% behind what she said. What we need to do is to explore customer needs and see if we can provide the products which fit their wants. Since no matter how unhealthy British people are, what if they just don’t care or prefer unhealthy eating habits? At times, logical way of thinking is more important than the factual evidence, isn’t it? |
