Morning Meadow
Art piece: ”Morning Meadow" by Michael Gorban,
Poem written by S. C. LIAO
Afar from my root across the ocean,
away from my daily tasks in the city,
at the end of the golden track through the forest,
in soft and shadowy colors,
the delicate flowers of delight
Where the merry butterflies play,
the color marble settles,
pretty spring wind beside my face,
pausing beside the white winters,
to set our spirits singing.
Art work facts:
Title: Morning Shadows
Painted by Michael Gorban
Background: Gorban is a Russian Born Iseraeli artist. He visited Artique, a local gallery in Pleasanton, California, early 2005. Artique was a few miles away from my house, and it was one of his only five stops in U.S. His previous series of works were focus on windows. This art piece is very impressive. Gorban's arts usually have some good meanings. The depth of the forest, especially green, is something that he doesn't get to see in Russian, same as the butterfly, with the freedom to decide whether it wants to fly out or stay, in front of the open window. That colorful marble, the only strong color, strongly contrast to the rest of the painting, must mean something else. The color, the shape? I don't want what it means but it is just gives me that refreshing feelings. Red in Russian means battle. Green, in general means safe. White? I am still searching for an answer. One of the interesting explanation is rescue knight. Gorban is strongly influenced by his grandfather. So, it might have special meaning related to his grandfather.
Michael Gorban had the honor of being the youngest artist to display his work at the distinguished Hermitage Museum. His paintings were hung adjacent to artists such as Kandinsky, Dali, Rubilov and Andre. Gorban's use of light and shadow in his still life paintings gives them a romantic and timeless quality.
