現在一般生產的薩克斯風有： Sopranino-Sax
最高音薩克斯風 | Eb調，直立型，比較少見，也不常使用。 | Soprano-Sax
高音薩克斯風 | Bb調，在薩克斯風家族中他的音色最為細膩。
外型上大致上有直立型和彎管型兩種。
直立型的還有直頸與彎頸、一體成型與接管型的分別，Kenny G用的那種是一體成型的直頸高音薩克斯風。
而彎管型的像一隻游水的天鵝，造型很可愛。
但大多都是以直立型的為主流，聲音也比較好。

中音薩克斯風 | Eb調，在薩克斯風家族中以他的音色最為優美、激昂，也是最多人學習的種類。
| Tenor-Sax
次中音薩克斯風 | Bb調，在薩克斯風家族中他的音色最為溫柔、豪邁， | Baritone-Sax
上低音薩克斯風 | Eb調，俗稱『巴里東』（要台語發音），
Gerry Mulligan是少數幾位吹奏這種Sax而出名的大師。
因為音域很低，較少做為主奏樂器，
但是他是非常優美的低音樂器，在大樂隊中很重要。 | Bass-Sax
低音薩克斯風 | Bb調，極少使用，多半只吹單音。 |
Soprano-Sax

The erect type contains erect neck and bended neck, and one-shape formed type and connected type. The type that Kenny G uses is Soprano-Sax which is one-shape formed with erect neck.
And, the connected type looks like a swimming swan of which the shape is cute. | | Alto-Sax

Because its compass is low, it is seldom played as a main instrument. However, it’s an excellent bass musical instrument, and very important in big bands or quartet. | |
