One of the devices was uncovered by Phoenix police during the arrest of three burglary suspects, as outlined in the arrest documents. Phoenix police have alleged that burglars are employing cellphones and Wi-Fi jamming devices to break into the Valley's upscale homes. This narrative mirrors the tactics commonly seen in spy movies, adding an element of intrigue to the situation. Around 7:30 p.m., surveillance officers in Phoenix observed multiple suspects in the Camelback Hill area near the intersection of 44th Street and Camelback Road, according to reports from the police department. The suspect was seen by officers entering a home and attempting to break into the residence, according to police reports. The culprit then left the home and entered a waiting minivan, but the police intervened to stop the vehicle from leaving. According to the arrest documents, the driver struck the police car with great force and velocity. Subsequently, four individuals emerged from the vehicle and hastily fled from the scene. In order to capture the suspects, the police promptly established a cordon in the area. This operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals, while the whereabouts of the fourth suspect remain unknown. The police revealed that all three suspects were found with counterfeit identification. Additionally, it was uncovered that they had overstayed their visas in the United States. In addition to fleeing from the police, the suspect also left behind tools used in burglaries, one of which was a jamming device wifi jammer. The devices were noted for their high level of sophistication by Bernard Zapor, who is now a faculty member at Arizona State University and previously served as an ATF agent. Zapol pointed out that it might intercept your phone's transmissions and indicate your location as you move around. The exact means by which the suspects obtained the device is uncertain; however, Zappel stated that it bears resemblance to the equipment utilized by law enforcement and intelligence agencies during investigations. There is a noticeable uptick in burglaries occurring in upscale neighborhoods. According to Phoenix police, there have been around 111 break-ins reported throughout the Valley since February of the previous year. It has been stated that the suspects specifically chose affluent families as their victims and managed to steal roughly $3 million worth of jewelry, cash, luxury wallets, and other valuable belongings. |
