The following parts are about my personal experience with Mangoose JLR for Jaguar and Land Rover. Price of the mongoose Chinese copy has dropped to a bargain price of about £35.99, I got one and it works perfectly with IDS and SSD It loaded up no problems on my windows XP (it also works on windows 7 32bit and xp need to find time to try on windows 7 x64) and seems to work ok. I never needed to use any of the supplied passwords, as it fires up and starts reading VIN and modules straight away when connected, so was a bit puzzled with that (made me think I was missing something). I use Mangoose v134 to read my car VIN and diagnostic codes, reads my current injector calibration codes fine and reprogram keys on the 2000 s type. The description for the “Mangoose” does say that it won’t work with cars prior to 2005, but I use v134 on both my x type 2001 and mate’s s type 2000 no problem, it is too gorgeous. Therefore, Mangoose JLR cannot cover diesel type vehicles, and mainly work with Jaguar and Land Rover prior to 2005 year. But given the cheap price I thought it was worth a stab , if it didn’t work it wasn’t the end of world but so far so good with the majority of it ……..although I haven’t actually used it to “update” anything just yet…. that leap of faith is still to come!
