當年只有20歲、還略顯青澀內向的梅西，參與了巴塞隆納球隊與聯合國兒童基金會（UNICEF）合作的公益月曆拍攝。透過當地慈善抽獎，一個來自貧民社區的家庭幸運中獎，而他們抱來的嬰兒，正是當時只有6個月大的亞馬爾。
