２００４年春天，４６歲的美國音樂鬼才巨星王子（Prince）發行第２８張大碟〔Musicology／音樂學〕（NPG／Columbia發行）

這張專輯是王子在 2004 年 3 月 27 日至 9 月 9 日在北美舉行的“Musicology”巡迴演唱會上贈送給觀眾的。

２００４年３月２９日，巡演開始兩天后，數位版發行。

實體版分別於２００４年４月 １９日（歐洲）和４月２０日（美國）由NPG 唱片公司推出，並由哥倫比亞唱片公司發行。

 

〔Musicology〕是王子五年來（Prince 十年後）首次透過主流唱片公司（索尼音樂集團）發行的專輯．

專輯完全由王子譜寫, 編曲,大部分樂器演奏，並獨力製作。

〔Musicology〕推出後獲得好評，拿到滾石雜誌四顆星評價，

 

〔Musicology〕得益於新穎的門票捆綁策略，成為王子多年來最成功的專輯，各地反應良好．
