有些人野心太大，沒有考量自己的能耐，

看到好吃的或是美好的事物就想要，

但卻從未想過這些舉動反而

會招來難以想像的嚴重後果。

有時候，我們會問別人對某件事情有沒有印象？

這時，英文裡常用一個簡單的片語

 “ring a bell”來做表達，

直接翻譯成中文的意思就是「搖一下鈴鐺」。

至於為何用搖鈴鐺的原因則在於，

如果我們用「聽覺」去做聯想的話，

也就是說當我們聽到一件事情或一個名字的時候，

若感覺好像突然有人在耳朵旁搖起鈴鐺

好讓我們有所反應時，

就代表你對這件事或這個名字有印象（或聽過）囉！

Anna：Does the name “TJ” ring a bell with you?

Anna：你對TJ這個名字有印象嗎？

Sasha：No, not really. Why did you ask?

Sasha：沒有欸。為什麼這麼問？

Anna：Oh, this TJ is the marketing director at 3M now.

I met him at a press conference the other day

and he said he knows you.

Anna：喔，這個叫TJ的人現在是3M的行銷總監。

前幾天，我在一個記者會上碰到他，他說他認識你。

Sasha：That’s interesting! How does he look like?

I can’t recall anyone that I’ve come across called TJ.

Sasha：這就有趣了！他長什麼樣子？

我不記得認識的人當中有誰是叫TJ的。

Anna：He’s quite tall, about 6 feet 2 or 3,

 clean shaven and decent looking.

And I noticed he’s wearing cuff links.

Anna：他還蠻高的，大概6呎2吋或3吋吧，

沒有留鬍子，看起來乾乾淨淨。

而且我有注意到他用袖扣呢。

Sasha：Speaking of cuff links…

it does ring a bell now.

He’s blond right?

Sasha：講到袖扣…我有印象了。

他是金髮對不對？

Anna：Yes, I think so and

he laughs quite a lot.

Anna：對，而且他經常笑容可掬。

Sasha：That should be him.

 We were colleagues about 3 years ago

at my previous company.

Sasha：那應該是他沒錯。

3年前，在前公司的時候，我們是同事。

Anna：It’s a small world, isn’t it.

Anna：這世界還真小呢。
