October 23rd was Chautin’s birthday. Hippo drove back from her hometown in order to celebrate the important day. She brought a bundle of sunny flowers and a bottle of wine as birthday gifts. Then we went to the famous American restaurant, Bangles, to have a nice meal where we ordered the value share meals, which cost each one of us 499 NT dollars. After that, we prepared to drink at her tenement with playing poker all night long.

Next day was another big day for me because the government bureau, Conscription Agency Ministry of The Interior, north district councilor, officer Pan, came to the township to see our substantive civilian servicemen. The content of the process was awful that I couldn’t feel any consideration for us. He just told us some required terms and conditions we ought to obey and look out ourselves for being safe between commuting.

I think the officers never empathize with us. We just want nothing but more respect. They seem to be here for a routine job, not heartedly want to hear something deeply inside our mentality.
