英語說文解字(1)：Found

  西方第一本印刷書：古騰堡聖經(The Gutenberg Bible)

        “Found”是多益中常出現的動詞，主要定義為創辦組織或機構，不可

與另一動詞 “find”的過去式混淆，兩動詞的過去式變化如下：

   Find (不規則動詞) → found

   Found (規則動詞) → founded

比較在句子中的使用(使用過去式)：

   They found a path leading to the lake.

   Mr. Wang founded this university twenty years ago.

“Found”還有數種衍生字：

1.     Founder (n.) 指創辦人

 Dr. Liang is the founder of the first international high school

 in the country.

2.     Co-found (v.) 指共同創辦

 Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft in their early twenties.

3.     Co-founder (n.) 指共同創辦人

 Steve Jobs was not only the co-founder and chairman of Apple Inc.

 but also its soul of innovation.

4.     Founding father (n. phr.) 指創辦的先驅，如一國的國父

 Dr. SunYat-sen is widely recognized as the founding father of the

 first republic in Asia.

5.     Foundation (n.) 指基礎或基金會

 They built a new house on the original foundation.

 The foundation was founded by the company to encourage

 research of lung cancer.

也有些使用者將 “found”與“fund”混淆；兩字字義相差甚遠，“fund”可為名詞與動詞，名詞義為資金、基金，動詞意為資助，如：

     The research project will be forced to stop without further fund

     from the original sponsors.

     The construction program is funded by the United Nations.
