The Great Commission

Christians don’t believe that all religions are equally good. Christians believe that Christianity is the only true religion in the world, and that Jehovah is the only true God. People who don’t know or don’t believe in Christianity are in great danger and can’t be redeemed by Jesus Christ’s blood. As a consequence, Christians should devote themselves to helping nonbelievers become believers.
According to the Bible, after Jesus Christ’s resurrection, he appeared to disciples and other believers several times. At the end of his last appearance, he was taken into heaven, and before leaving he told his followers, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” He also told them he would return one day. Now, two thousand years have passed. Jesus has not yet returned. Thus, Christians must keep preaching the good news until the day when Jesus returns.
In Christians’ point of view, to convert a person to Christianity is to save his or her life. Because, as a nonbeliever, he or she is originally destined to suffer his or her punishments forever in hell, but now converted, will be saved and have happiness in heaven. Christians worry about non-Christians as in an emergency, because Christians believe non-Christians are bound for destruction and have no hope for the future.
The very meaning of a Christian’s life is to be a witness of Jesus Christ, to attract more people to him. If Christians don’t model good behavior in order to make people believe in Jesus Christ, or if they cause people to reject the gospel because of their lives, they will have a hard time when they face God. Clergy need to do their best to strengthen the faith of believers and to share the gospel with nonbelievers. Laymen also need to do their best to strengthen the faith of one other and to share gospel with nonbelievers among the places of society where they are assigned. Christians are called upon for doing this task.
One of the most moving things for me is the many missionaries from industrialized countries going to spread the good news in undeveloped countries. I can’t imagine how people raised in a modern society as I was can tolerate the discomfort and inconvenience of going without electricity, plumbing, transportation, medicine, entertainment, etc. Further, they have to deal with the challenges of language, cultural, and racial differences. Yet they suffer these hardships simply to serve Jesus Christ. They even face the danger of persecution.
Persecution has accompanied Christianity since its beginning. Many Christians have been harmed or killed because they didn’t abandon their faith, even when faced with torture or death. They followed the example of Jesus Christ, who was crucified. In an imaginary situation, God does exist, and you have a chance to stand before him. He says you don’t deserve to enter heaven, but you argue with him. Based on your good behavior in your lifetime, you think you should be allowed entry, but he can silence you by referring to any story of a person who was persecuted because of him.
The worldwide work of spreading Christianity is called the great commission. The purpose of this book is to be a small part of it. We want to prove that Christianity is true through rational debate. We hope that many people will believe in Jesus Christ after reviewing the arguments and considering the evidence provided in this book.
We have to mention something: The most important evidence of Christianity should be the real stories of people who turn from their sins after accepting Jesus, the good behavior of Christians, and the power of the prayers in Jesus’ name. But the scope of this book is to discuss some other evidence.
