Christianity claims that it is the only truth. It says that people should not believe any other religion but Christianity, which provides the real hope. It also says that only the God in the Bible is real and that all other Gods and all other religions are not real. Many people have a problem with that and keep themselves away from Christianity.
     We believe people who use this reason to oppose Christianity also have many other reasons for their stand. The exclusiveness of Christianity is only an ostensible reason and should be ignored. Everyone acquires various kinds of knowledge every day, and we all know that all kinds of knowledge suggest some statements are true and things contradicting these statements are not true. The statement that photosynthesis produces oxygen implies any similar but altered statement, such as “photosynthesis produces carbon dioxide,” is wrong. Christianity has its own ideas and arguments about the world. It’s normal that Christianity has some principles and rejects statements outside Christianity contradicting these principles. As long as these principles don’t contradict each other, they merit consideration from reasonable people.
     Actually, genuine atheism is also exclusive by its nature. The assumption of atheism defies any possibility of things violating natural laws. We called it AUGP in previous chapters. Atheism also has other arbitrary assumptions about the whole universe and human beings in general. However, many people who suggest you believe in atheism don’t clearly spell out for you AUGP or other exclusive statements. We don’t want to make judgments on this. We just want to say that there are two different kinds of propaganda in the world. Some will conceal part of the facts if necessary to maximize its effects. On the contrary, some also wants to have the desired results, but it keeps telling the truth and doesn’t mislead the thoughts of its targets, no matter whether this is good for its purposes or not. We planned to write this book as the latter.
     There are other ideas that are not exclusive. Nevertheless, we have stated that meaningful knowledge must have exclusive assertions. As a result, a non-exclusive idea makes little sense. For example, some people have an idea that all religions are basically good and they have no particular interest in any of them. However, we see religions around the world contradicting each other more or less. What do they, the “all religions are basically good” believers, really mean? Do they mean all of them were essentially invented by certain people living in ancient days and actually the unscientific statements they tout are not true, but those religious ideas are acceptable as long as they don’t cause major troubles in our society? Do they mean there are different Gods who really exist and they dominate different parts of the earth and different groups of people and provide different teachings? Do they mean there is a common God giving different (sometimes contradictory) teachings and revealing himself differently to different people? (If there is really a God, is it reasonable that he does things like this?) If we were to continue to ask them, they possibly don’t want to make themselves clear, because it is difficult or impossible to find any positive and/or useful conclusion for this ambiguous idea. But they are pretty satisfied.
     The exclusive Christian doctrine, on the contrary, asserts that among all religions in the world only Christianity is true. All other religions are mixed with human imagination, philosophic reasoning, part of the truth, and some influences from evil powers. No wonder they contradict Christianity at some points. Not all things about them are wrong. However, Christianity is the only full revelation from the true God.
     Christianity is not only exclusive but also unique, especially in the doctrine of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. Uncompromising monotheism is an idealistic assertion; it can be found in Christianity and some other religions. The concepts that good behavior will be rewarded and bad behavior will be punished are instinctive expectations of human beings; they can be found in Christianity and some other religions. However, the statement, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,” exists only in Christianity. There are also other religions in the world attracting billions of people. Their founders enjoyed honor and respect from followers and were long-lived. Only the founder of Christianity died miserably and shamefully on the cross.
     Here we suggest that the exclusiveness of Christianity is not an issue. If any religion is true, it must be exclusive. The exclusiveness of Christianity provides evidence that Christianity is true. After much debate on Christianity, the rest of this book will present some other evidence that God does exist and Christianity is the true message from him.
