I feel like the White Rabbit today, I'm late, I'm late for some very important dates... The predicted peak for the 2013 Lyrid meteor shower was before dawn today (April 22), however you might see meteors before dawn tomorrow, if unlike me you look at the right time. The best time, according to the almanac, is after the moon sets and before the sun comes up. Some have gotten great pictures and shared them on the EarthSky facebook site this is my favorite: this image was taken in the small hours of the morning April 22 by Simon Waldram, around 5 am. Camera used was a sony a580 with a minolta 24mm prime lens 30 seconds exposure f2.8 iso 1600. Can I just say I'm terribly jealous of Simon meteors and windmills, what more could you wish for |
