Maintaining or replacing golf cart cat6 cable does not have to be time-consuming or overly difficult. But for those new to electric vehicles, one look in the battery-bank compartment might make you cringe. There are certainly plenty of wires inside this compartment, and it may appear as if there is no rhyme or reason to how they are attached to the various terminals. Do not let this scare you. With the proper approach, replacing golf cart battery cables can be quite easy.
Without getting into too much detail, golf cart 1/0 welding cable can be hooked up in either series or in parallel. It is the manner in which the wires are connected to the various terminals that determines if your system is series or parallel. Some models may have what is often called series/parallel systems but these are fairly rare.
If given enough time, and under the right conditions, all power wires will need to be replaced at some time. Replacement is warranted when the wires become damaged or the insulation becomes broken. Both of these conditions will greatly reduce the amount of power your vehicle gets for its normal operating functions. It can mean slower speeds on even flatland, uphill drag, and may result in the vehicle simply stopping abruptly and needing a tow.
All of these events can be prevented by replacing worn out golf car cables for battery. And replacing these wires is much easier than it might seem at first glance under the compartment hood.
You will, of course, want to follow the manufacturer's instructions as found in the owner's manual for your vehicle. There are, however, two key elements for a successful replacement. The first is to make sure that you are replacing the old wires with wires that are compatible. If you are replacing a six-inch, four-gauge wire, then buy a six-inch, four-gauge wire as its replacement. Second, resist the temptation to remove all of the wires at the same time. Rather than taking the chance that you may forget how to replace the connectors to the terminals, remove one wire at a time, replace it completely, and then move on to the next. This will prevent mistakes and takes less time in the long run.
If you do get confused, stop. Refer to the owner's manual or, if need be, go online and find an illustration of the correct wiring schematic. It is very important that you do not mistakenly connect terminals as this can lead to damaged batteries as well as explosions.
After you have replaced the last wire, step back and visually go over each one, one more time. When you are completely satisfied that they are all connected correctly, you can close the compartment lid and fire up the vehicle. Before taking a test drive, make sure all of the lights and turn signals (if equipped) are working properly.
Installing a new set of golf cart 4 gauge battery wire is a great way to extend the life of your power cells and to give added performance to your vehicle.
