Trade-show attendees flog the Internet of Things.
-- in North America alone there are 44 million hospital admissions a year; attach 10 sensors to every patient, and you already have a market for 440 million network-connected devices. At the show, there were companies offering easy-to-use, wireless-connected glucose meters for diabetics and wireless Internet-connected EKGs for cardiac patients. Other companies offer Internet-enabled pill bottles -- bottles that blink and then beep as a reminder to take your medications, and send out e-mail alerts if you fail to keep up. And push a button to reorder.
